Iida Nissinen (she/her or they/them) is a Helsinki-based artist, art educator, and cultural worker. These roles and realms dissolve into one and another in her current occupations, forming a collaborative art and peer-learning practice. Her recent entanglements are collective, heavily interactive, non-/performative, durational, and united through themes of imagination, magic, care, and companionship(s).
Iida has a versatile experience within the art and cultural field, as she has worked in cultural organizations, art schools, museums, public art programs, and participatory art projects. She is also a founding member of an artistic experiment, queer-feminist community, and a sub-cultural space called Querq in Vallila, Helsinki.
In late 2020 Iida called forward a virtual witch circle to share magic on cyberspace. She studies tarots and dreams of ghosts and haunted houses. Instead of keeping up the pale-male-stale tradition of rationalist deception, she chooses to live in magical realities made of phantoms and quantum queerness.
Still hot: posthumanist & intersectional feminism, collective pedagogies, dreams and visions, experiments with strangers
